SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail security system, which is used to verify whether an e-mail message was sent by a certified server. Employing SPF protection for a domain name will stop the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are allowed to send e-mail messages from mailboxes under the domain. When this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Any time an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses tests whether it comes from an accredited server. If it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, but if it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This technique is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain name hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to activate it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down list and then type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be approved to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers manage the emails for it, not some third-party supplier. This option provides you with the top degree of security, but it is not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while the email addresses for the domain are managed somewhere else. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function is available with all semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to activate this particular service effortlessly for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a rather intuitive interface, which means that you won't need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your emails. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be certified to send out e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you have chosen. As an extra option, we'll also allow you to limit your outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes even further by allowing email messages to be sent only when the domain in question includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name should be taken care of on our end and not by another company. In this way you'll enjoy even better control and there will not be any chances for somebody to forge your email addresses for malicious intentions.
